The Virginia Tech Chapter of Sigma Xi received a 2018-2019 Distinguished Lecturer Subsidy to bring Dr. James Costa, director of the Highlands Biological Station at Western Carolina University and the author of Darwin’s Backyard: How small experiments led to a big theory.

Join us Tuesday March 26th, noon-1PM, Fralin Auditorium, Virginia Tech for a seminar entitled "Indefatigable Naturalists:Darwin and Wallace on the Evolutionary Trail". In this talk, Dr. Costa will trace the independent development of Wallace’s and Darwin’s evolutionary insights, exploring the fascinating parallels, intersections, and departures in their thinking. Costa puts Wallace’s thinking into a new light in relation to that of his more illustrious colleague, restoring Wallace to his proper place in the limelight with Darwin.

Dr. Costa will also be giving a Science on Tap Public Lecture, Monday March 25th, 5:30-7 PM, Rising Silo Brewery
