The Conrad Foundation is seeking Sigma Xi members to help select the innovators and technical leaders of the future by serving as a judge in the semifinals and final round of the ConradSpirit of Innovation Challenge. Participation as a judge is done entirely online - no travel needed.

The Conrad Challenge honors, Apollo 12 astronaut, innovator and entrepreneur, Charles "Pete" Conrad, Jr. In it's eighth successful year, the Conrad Challenge is an annual innovation and entrepreneurial student competition that brings together a dynamic community of innovators to develop extraordinary and viable solutions to benefit our world in one of four areas: Aerospace and Aviation, Cyber-Technology and Security, Energy and Environment and Health and Nutrition.
This year, there is a special category, Giant Leap to Mars, focused on technology necessary to put a man on Mars.
Teams of 2-5 students from around the world have already successfully completed the first round and have been selected to proceed to the semifinals. Videos from the first-round investor pitches can be found at

Judges are invited to review and score the semifinals round Innovation Portfolios in January, February, and March, 2015. All review and scoring will be completed online through the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Innovation Portal, an online tool for scoring innovation portfolios using a standardized, researched-based rubric.
