  • SLU Sigma Xi Fall Event

    SLU Sigma Xi is hosting a research ethics and meet-and-greet event on Tuesday, October 26th from 4 – 5:30 pm in Busch Student Center Room 254. Dr. Kimbell Kornu from SLU's Albert Gnaegi Center for Health Care Ethics will be presenting "Dissecting the Patient Body:  How Medicine Reduces Patients into Objects". Following Dr. Kornu's talk, members of SLU Sigma Xi will available to talk about Sigma Xi, an international scientific research honor society founded in 1886 to honor excellence and potential in science and engineering research endeavors. The SLU chapter has been in existence since 1944 and we are excited to share information about upcoming events, opportunities to get involved, and membership. All students, faculty, and staff involved in research are invited to attend!

  • SLU Sigma Xi 2021 Research Symposium

    The Saint Louis University Chapter of Sigma Xi invites you to our annual Research Symposium, featuring short presentations from undergraduate and graduate students in a broad range of disciplines covering biological/life sciences, physical/engineering sciences, and social/behavioral sciences.

     

    This virtual event will be held from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 via Zoom.

    Registration is required to attend the sessions.

  • 2021 SLU Sigma Xi Annual Research Symposium

    The SLU Sigma Xi Research Symposium will be held from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 as a virtual event. Both undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit an abstract.

     

    Abstract Submission Guidelines*:

     

    • Abstracts must be submitted via the Google form https://forms.gle/bha5DLvKg8aVuGj46.
    • The following information is required:
      • Presenter's name and email
      • Affiliation
      • Research Advisor's name and email
      • Coauthors and affiliations (if any)
    • Abstract should be no longer than 200 words and should include topic background, research question, method(s), and brief results. No footnotes or images should be included.

     

    Abstract Submission deadline: 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2021.

     

    We anticipate students will present short flash talks (~5 min) during assigned sessions, along with uploading a PDF poster for viewing prior to the event. Registration for the event will be required to access posters and presentations.

     

    There will be awards for the highest scoring undergraduate and graduate projects in the three subject divisions (biological/life sciences, physical/engineering sciences, and social/behavioral sciences).

    Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society is an honor society and was founded in 1886. The Society has more than 500 chapters in the world. The SLU chapter was founded in 1944.

    Individuals who have presented or published their work, including participants in our research symposium are eligible for membership.
