  • Sigma Xi Member Wins Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering

    Congratulations to Sigma Xi member Robert Langer of Massachusetts Institute of Technology for winning the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering. This £1 million prize celebrates the engineers responsible for a ground-breaking innovation that has been of global benefit to humanity. He was the first person to engineer polymers to control the delivery of large molecular weight drugs for the treatment of diseases such as cancer and mental illness. Dr. Langer will receive the prize from Queen Elizabeth in Buckingham Palace later this year.
