The UF Chapter of Sigma Xi is seeking nominations for the following awards that will be presented at the Annual Awards Banquet March 23, 2017 with Dr. Kent Fuchs as the keynote speaker. Nomination deadline is February 10, 2017. The categories are as follows:
Junior Faculty Research Award
Recognizes an Assistant Professor who has made an outstanding contribution to science and society.
Senior Faculty Research Award
Recognizes an Associate Professor or Professor who has made extraordinary contributions to his or her profession and has fostered critical innovations to enhance the research enterprise.
Graduate Student Research Award
Recognizes a graduate student who received his or her degree in 2016 and has made an outstanding contribution to scientific research.
Pre-college Teaching Award
Recognizes an outstanding K-12 teacher in the Alachua County School system. The teacher is recognized for his or her innovative teaching in science, technology, engineering or mathematical sciences.
Please send Letters of Nomination (2 page limit) including CV (2 page limit) to Dr. Pete Hansen at pjhansen@ufl.edu. Non-members may nominate and receive awards. Nominations are reviewed and final selections made by a committee of UF Sigma Xi Chapter members.
