  • Durham Science Olympiad Needs You

Hi all, we are passing along this call for volunteers from Durham Public Schools about their need for help with the upcoming Science Olympiad. Members often tell us they'd like to have volunteer opportunities to advance science locally and with schools, so this is a great opportunity. Please contact the organizer for more information.
    -------

This year, we will be joining forces with the folks from Greensboro to host a 2021 Triad Regional tournament that will be completely virtual.  Though we are operating virtually, we are still be in need of volunteers—particularly event leaders, event monitors, information room hosts, and event scorers.

This year’s tournament will be held over two Saturdays, with certain events taking place on February 20, 2021 and others on March 6, 2021.  If you are interested in helping, you may volunteer on one or both dates.  It will be helpful if you are comfortable on an electronic platform, such as Zoom, Google Hangouts, or Nearpod.  We will help you prepare to use those tools.  And, of course, you’ll need to have access to a device and Internet in order to volunteer this year.

To volunteer, please sign up using our SignUpGenius at:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0D49ACA823AAF58-triad.  You’ll note that not every tournament event appears on this SignUpGenius.  Some events will be run at the State level this year, with a team of event-specific (rather than region specific) volunteers.

If you feel that you’d prefer to wait until 2022 to rejoin us as a volunteer, that’s okay too!  We’re completely understanding of the challenges we all face in adapting to this virtual environment and are looking forward to our return to our face-to-face tournaments.  Feel free to reach out to any of our tournament directors with questions:

We look forward to working with you on the 2021 virtual Science Olympiad journey!

    Thanks for your support.
