Dear Berkeley Chapter Member:
Your officers are pleased to announce the opening of the Berkeley Chapter’s 2021 GIAR Program.
The deadline for application submittal is April 15, 2021.
This year’s program is generally consistent with past programs:
- eligibility: undergrad or grad students in science and engineering at UCB and other San Francisco Bay Area colleges and universities; membership in Sigma Xi is not required
- contact: this year’s program is being led by Dr. Kevin Padian, to whom applications should be sent (kpadian@berkeley.edu)
- funding: grants are modest, generally in the $300-500 range
- Covid-19 policy: again this year, our covid-19 policy is in effect: in their proposals, applicants should ignore uncertainties associated with existing or future possible public health restrictions
- awards: We plan to notify awardees by April 30, 2021
