Dear Members of the UW Chapter of Sigma Xi:
After soliciting nominations for officers of our Chapter, the following members have agreed to stand for election. Please indicate by reply mail (to lizvanv@uw.edu) your support for these officers.
President – Dr. Subrata Saha
Dr. Saha has served as the President of Sigma Xi chapters at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, LA., Clemson University, and SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Last year he was elected a member of the Nominating Committee of Sigma Xi. He was also a member of the Program Committee for the Sigma Xi Annual Meeting in 2018 and organized an Ethics Track at the Annual Meeting last year. He is associated with the UW School of Dentistry where he has taught DENTEL 513 Ethics Publication Review.
Vice-President – Dr. Sue Herring
Dr. Herring is a Professor of Orthodontics and of Oral Health Sciences at the University of Washington. Her research focuses on biomechanics of the skull and TMJ, functional morphology of oral behavior, especially mastication, and effects of muscle activity and loading on craniofacial skeletal biology and growth.
Secretary/Treasurer – Dr. Elizabeth Van Volkenburgh
Dr. Van Volkenburgh is a Professor of Biology, a plant physiologist interesting in the regulation of plant growth rate, and limitations to yield caused by drought in common bean and other species. She has served the UW Chapter of Sigma Xi as President-elect (1996-1997), President (1997-1998), and Secretary/Treasurer since 1999.
