  • "Invigorating Science at the Heidelberg” Thurs. Jan 27 from 3 and 5 pm.

Dear Sigma Xi current and past members,

Hope you all are doing well.

I want to congratulate you for being a part of the science and engineering community at MU. Your contributions are making great benefits in the lives of humans, and continue to contribute to society for the betterment of the world community and mankind.

As you know Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society is one of the oldest and largest scientific organizations in the world recognizing scientists and engineers, whose research spans the all the disciplines of science and technology.

The University of Missouri Sigma Xi Chapter was chartered in 1905, and for 117 years it has promoted the science and engineering community of MU.  Currently there are 54 active chapter members and well over several hundred nonactive members in multidisciplinary fields of agriculture, animal sciences, biology, chemistry, geology, medicine, mathematics, engineering, social sciences.

To promote science at MU, it is important to acquaint ourselves with each other and consider exchanging ideas and work from our broad range of science. At Mizzou world class science needs to be shared celebrated and honored. This is especially true for young scientists and engineers starting their careers.

So, we invite you all to a Chapter event "Invigorating Science at the Heidelberg” hosted by our local community at Mizzou on January 27th at 4:00 p.m. The purpose of the event is to begin to rejuvenate our chapter so that we all know each other, know the science everyone is doing at Mizzou.

While the success of any chapter depends on the members, it is important to communicate that the chapter needs "new life" and your presence is most important. We kindly request each of you to consider the reactivating your membership to Sigma Xi to; recognize scientific achievements, promote public understanding of science (communication) and impact on policy, provide opportunities for professional development and leadership, promote responsible conduct of research and scientific integrity, and promote STEM education.

We hope you will be able find time from your schedule to enjoy the " Invigorating Science at the Heidelberg” (410 S Ninth St. Columbia, MO)" with us on January 27th between 3 and 5 pm.

    Sincerely, The Chapter Invigorating Committee

Sigma Xi - University of Missouri
