    There are a number of events this week and in the week that follows that should be of interest!

    Virtual AG Day - April 19-24
    Join the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources for a week-long virtual celebration of agriculture and natural resources at UD. Enjoy speakers, tours and activities with faculty staff and students from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and UD Cooperative Extension. The 2021 Ag Day theme is "One World, One Health" and will highlight college-wide research pertaining to this concept. One Health is a research perspective that considers the health of animals, humans and the environment as a single, integrated whole.     River of Gold film discussion with producer Sarah DuPont. The River of Gold documentary film by the Amazon Aid Foundation, is the disturbing account of a clandestine journey into Peru’s Amazon rainforest to uncover the savage unraveling of pristine jungle by illicit small scale gold mining.     Join the College of Arts and Sciences, DENIN & UD Sustainability Council for an Earth Day 2021 Symposium & Special Event: "Restoring our Earth through the Regenerative Power of Poetry, Art & Actions" featuring: Neva Mistra, an Award-winning Global Climate Justice Advocate, Poet and Contemporary Folk Artist, who will host this community creative circle to celebrate Earth Day 2021 with a sharing of poetry and art of resilience, renewal, and re-imagination needed to foster meaningful Earth stewardship. The event will be followed by a Speaker Series featuring: Elizabeth Swanson Andi: “Llakichina” Empathy with the Forest: Feeling the Land Through Generations of Intimacy with the Earth; James A.     iMusic 13: Burning Ice - An Earth Day Celebration Concert. The iMusic series returns with a feast of multimedia performances conceptualized and performed by Master Players Director and iMusic producer Xiang Gao.“Burning Ice,” filmed and produced prior to and during the pandemic by a group of brave and passionate artists, will allow you to enjoy the beauty of our planet with never-before-seen footage that underscores the crucial issues ensuing generations will likely face unless we take serious action in the present.     OPPORTUNITIES
    Applications for 2021-2023 DENIN Environmental Fellowships are open. The deadline is April 30, 2021. The fellowship is open to current University of Delaware doctoral students with an environmental focus whose advisers are DENIN-affiliated faculty members. Fellows are required to provide a brief written report annually, to lead or attend certain DENIN events, and to make occasional presentations to the DENIN or EPSCoR communities. The fellowship begins in September and provides funding for two years. To learn more, click link here.
    DOD Anticipating Threats to Natural Systems (ACTIONS) Project Undergraduate Summer 2021 Internships. Applications are now open and specific projects are listed on our DENIN website and the online application can be found here
    Greenist Blue Hen 2021 Earth Day Challenge: Restoring Our Earth Through Creative Communications & Actions. All level of students are encouraged to participate in this year's challenge. There are a number of events and activities planned that students can get points for. Entries allowed: Traditional art (painting, cloth art etc); Digital visual media (e.g. video/photograph); Digital audio media (poem recital). To learn more, click link here.

    NASA EPSCoR RID Seed Grant Program Announcement. The NASA EPSCoR Program will sponsor a Research Infrastructure Development (RID) grant to the state of Delaware. A principal goal of the program is to develop competitive research and technology for the solution of scientific and technical problems in areas of strategic importance to NASA’s mission: to pioneer the future in space exploration, scientific discovery, and aeronautics research.     Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC Division of Watershed Stewardship, Shoreline and Waterway Management Section Summer Intern 2021
    The DNREC Division of Watershed Stewardship, Shoreline and Waterway Management Section (SWMS) is seeking an intern to assist with Section projects for a 10 to 12-week period in the summer of 2021. The intern will be expected to work remotely, and the work location for this position will be Dover or Lewes, DE, should DNREC’s offices resume in-person work during summer 2021. The intern’s work will support SWMS’s mission of maintaining and improving Delaware’s shoreline and waterways. To learn more, click link here.
