Sigma Xi Annual Fall Mixer

The Sigma Xi Annual Fall Mixer will be held on Thursday, October 19th. The social will begin at 4:30 pm in room 427 of the Engineering Research Center (ERC) on Main Campus.  At the Mixer, we will have delicious snacks, soft drinks, free wine, and new this year free local beer. The event is open and free to both Sigma Xi members and non-members so feel free to invite others to attend.


Starting at approximately 5:00pm our four 2017 GIAR Award winners will be giving 10 minute presentations on their summer research. They are:

  • Rebecca Haley, Dept. of Chemistry “Greener Reductive Cycloadditions through Nickle Catalysis under Mechanochemical Conditions"
  • Amanda Powers, Department of Biology “Gene Expression Changes Associated with Cranial Bone Fragmentation in Cavefish”
  • Nava Rijal, Department of Biomedical Engineering, “Engineering Microenvironments for Wound Healing Electrotherapy”
  • Janelle Wallace,Department of Geology, “Reconstructing Equid Mobility in Miocene Florida”
