SLU Sigma Xi Research Symposium

The SLU Sigma Xi Research Symposium will be held from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, May 1, in the Saint Louis Room of Busch Student Center.

Both undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit an abstract. The deadline for abstract submission is 5 p.m. Friday, March 10.

There will be a total of six awards (biological/life sciences, physical/engineering sciences, and social/behavioral sciences for undergraduate and graduate divisions).

Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society is an honor society and was founded in 1886. The Society has more than 500 chapters in the world. The SLU chapter was founded in 1944. Abstract Submission Guidelines
  • Abstract must be in Microsoft Word.
  • Type in the title, followed by authors’ names and departments.
  • Specify whether undergraduate or graduate category
  • Specify which section you are entering (life/biological sciences; physical sciences/engineering/mathematics; or social/behavioral sciences)
  • Abstract should include a brief topic background, research question, method, brief results
  • No footnotes should be included
  • Abstract should be no longer than 200 words, excluding the title and authors’ names and affiliations.
  • Abstract should have the first author’s contact information at the end (full name and e-mail address).
  • The file name should be Research Symposium 2017_first author’s full name. For example, Research Symposium 2017_Mike Smith.
  • Abstract should be sent to sigmaxi@slu.edu.
  • Deadline for abstract submissions is 5 p.m. Friday, March 10.

*All research that involves animals, human subjects or bio/chemical agents and/or radiation must receive the appropriate institutional approvals.
