The national Sigma Xi leadership has awarded our Ohio State Chapter of Sigma Xi the Chapter Program of Excellence Award for 2017 to recognize our Meet-a-Scientist program. This outreach program connects faculty members and students with local classrooms and civic organizations enabling them to communicate the excitement of their research and career path, and the power of a scientific approach to solving problems.
Congratulations to all who participated in our Meet-a-Scientist program, especially since we expanded our program to include after school programs in local schools. This award shows again how our Chapter can set a strong example for other Chapters of Sigma Xi.
The Chapter Program of Excellence Awards are given to a chapter for organizing or hosting an outstanding program, especially one which other chapters can emulate. Nominees were chosen by the Regional and Constituency Directors based on Chapter Annual Reports, and winners were selected by the Committee on Qualifications and Membership.
